Dysphagia (Eating, Drinking and Swallowing)

This course is for Adult Social Care staff (carers or nurses) who support service users affected by Dysphagia (Eating, Drinking & Swallowing)


This course is delivered by the Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist, and has been developed to provide all learners with an understanding of Dysphagia as a condition and how to support an individual to eat and drink.

This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Group discussion, small group activities, DVD clips.

The course content includes:
Dysphagia identification and causes
Dementia and dysphagia
How to thicken fluids
The IDDSI guidelines
Mouth Care
Dysphagia/eating and drinking at the end of life
